Relentless (Inspector Norse Edit)
Track name: “Inspector Norse” (2:32 edit)
Context: This one grabbed me out of nowhere. I couldn’t stop playing it, so I pulled it apart to understand why and then reshaped it into something short, punchy, and usable for dance competitions.
Style / Lane: Euphoric cosmic disco meets classy French house in a relentless groove-driven edit.
What I tried:
Compressing a long, evolving track into a tight 2:30 that does nothing but build
Keeping the hypnotic loop feeling intact
Letting repetition do the work instead of over-editing
What worked: The energy never stops. It still feels like it’s going somewhere, even in a short format. The groove carries the whole thing.
What surprised me: How little I needed to do. The track is pure magic already. I just had to listen and then get out of the way. A little restructuring, a few nano tension releases, some transitions… that’s it.
What I’d do differently: I wish I had more time to let a section or two breathe more. I felt myself wanting to rush the payoff for timing constraints (dance comp world needs this kind of timing).
1 small takeaway: Sometimes less is most definitely more.
